How do I stop my worm farm from being infested with small flying Insects?
Sprinkle a handful of gardeners lime or Dolomite lime on top of the surface every 3 to 4 weeks (lime reduces acidity). Cut your fruit and vegetable pieces to salad size to start the decaying process quicker.
What do I do if my Worm Farm is wet, soggy and smelly?
Add pea straw or dry shredded paper to the mix to help aerate your Worm Farm and lime to the surface.
How do I stop my Worm Farm having small ants in it?
First check the area around the farm and if there seem to be a lot of ants put the worm farm legs in a pot/s of water so the ants cannot get in.
Ants can be in your Worm Farm because it is too dry. To drive the ants out sprinkle some water to the mix and disturb the nest but don’t add too much as it may drown your worms. Lastly, add lime to the top.
How do I know how moist my Worm Farm should be?
Take a handful of the worm bedding and squeeze it, only a few drops of moisture should come out. If it is too wet see Q2 for answer.
How many worms can I put into my Worm Farm?
A Worm Farm or Cafe can accommodate 3 to 4 kgs of worms. Start with a minimum of 250g (Approximately 1000 worm).
Helpful hints to keep your worm farm healthy.

Always feed your worms a balance of foods and add a cup of water.

After heavy rains and your Worm Farm is out in the weather, drain your worm juice as the Worm Farm lid has holes in it and may fill up with water.

Keep Worm Farms in shaded areas as the heat will reduce the number of worms.

Keep a cover worm mat, old towel or hessian bag on top of the worms to keep them dark and working near the surface. As compost worms are top livers, not deep burrowers.

After harvesting the worm juice add 50% water to the mix and pour around plants and vegetables.
